About
My name is Doug Nedzesky, and i’m 36 years old. I live outside the city of Pittsburgh in rural Beaver County with my wife and daughter. I’m a full time tattoo artist with 15 years of experience. If i’m not with my family, or at work, you can find me out in the woodshop working on my next project.
Nature has always been my primary inspiration. The curves, shapes, and forms found in wood grain have fascinated me since I was a child. I’ve become rather obsessed with finding new exotic species that I can incorporate into a piece. Chasing mathematical perfection with something that continues to move and exchange moisture seasonally keeps me humble. Having a background in art and design has allowed me to have a unique outlook on woodworking. Applying elements like contrast and flow have helped me immensely when it comes to designing.
I’ve always preferred to mill my own lumber from rough cut wood. It’s insanely satisfying to turn dirty, dull looking boards into beautiful, flat surfaces to build with. Although this does take some extra time and attention, it’s a perfect contrast to the stressful, high octane level of thought process required when working on a project. Precision is the part of my work that I regularly obsess over. Getting things down to the millimeter(yes, i went metric) is something I really strive for.
